First, we will go to Tsutenkaku, Osaka’s symbolic tower!

1. Tsutenkaku Tower, the symbol of Osaka

There are many kushikatsu restaurants in Shinsekai, so be sure to try Osaka’s specialty! One point of advice to keep in mind is not to dip them in sauce twice!

Tsutenkaku (40 minutes for sightseeing) → Lunch in Shinsekai (60 minutes) → Sightseeing (20 minutes)

Shin-Imamiya Station → Morinomiya Station

2. Osaka Castle and Lord Hideyoshi

Take the JR Loop Line from Shin-Imamiya Station to Morinomiya Station. The ride takes about 13 minutes. Osaka Castle Park is a large park surrounding the Osaka Castle Keep, and stretches between Morinomiya and Osaka Castle Park Stations. Therefore, from the direction of Shin-Imamiya Station, we recommend that you take the route “Morinomiya Station→Osaka Castle Keep→Osaka Castle Park Station” for sightseeing.

【13:20】Arrival at Morinomiya StationOsaka CastleOsaka Castle is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Osaka. Osaka Castle Park is a vast site, with areas to enjoy plum blossoms and cherry blossoms, depending on the season. Recently, a new theater (Cool Japan Park Osaka), named after the hall by Akashiya Sanma, has opened and offers a variety of theatrical performances. On a fine day, it is also pleasant to take a stroll in the spacious park.

Osaka CastleOf course, you can enter the Osaka Castle Keep, and from the 8th floor observation deck you can see all of Osaka. The view must have been very different from what Lord Hideyoshi saw (photo on left). Miniature models of the Osaka Summer Battle and documents from the time of Lord Hideyoshi are on display on each floor (photo on right).

3. The god of learning and performing arts at Osaka Tenmangu

【16:00】Arrive at Osaka TenmanguOsaka TenmanguFrom Osaka-jo Koen Station on the JR Loop Line, transfer one stop to the JR Tozai Line at Kyobashi Station, and two stops to Osaka Tenmangu Station. Including the transfer time, it takes only a little less than 10 minutes to get there. Osaka Tenmangu Shrine, dedicated to Fujiwara no Michizane, the god of learning and entertainment, is famous for prayers for success in school, but it also offers other benefits such as “success in life,” “match-making,” and “repelling bad luck,” so please be sure to visit.

After visiting Osaka Tenmangu Shrine, depart for Tenma, your final destination for the day. If you are going by train, take the Osaka Metro Sakaisuji Line for one section from Minamimorimachi Station to Ogimachi Station. However…if you are still full of energy and want to enjoy Osaka more fully, you can walk to Tenma from here. So let’s move go foot!

4. Japan’s longest Tenjinbashisuji Shopping Street

Tenjinbashisuji Shopping StreetNow it’s time to go to Tenma via Tenjinbashisuji Shopping Street, the longest shopping street in Japan. Enjoy the atmosphere of Osaka as you stroll along. Nakamuraya, famous for its croquettes, is located in Tenjinbashisuji Shopping Arcade, just a short walk from Osaka Tenmangu Shrine.

6.Dotonbori,the symbol of Kuidaore

【12:30】Arrive at DotonboriDotonboriAfter seeing Yoshimoto Shinkigeki, walk a little north to Dotonbori (about a 5-minute walk). This area is called “Minami” and is one of the two major areas in Osaka with the “Kita” Umeda area.DotonboriIt is a shopping street that symbolizes Osaka, a gourmet city. DotonboriThis is “Ukiyo Koji,” a very narrow alley between Dotonbori and Hozenji Yokocho. The alley is filled with Taisho-romance, and you can get to know the atmosphere of Namba in the olden days.DotonboriThere is also “Issunboushi Daimyojin” in this Ukiyo Koji, and there is a popular omikuji (fortune) that often comes true. The reason for the name “Issunboshi” is that legend has it that Issunboshi left for the capital of Kyoto to exterminate demons at the Dotonbori River.DotonboriThis is Hozenji Yokocho. Long-established restaurants line both sides of the narrow stone-paved alley.
